NEW GEORGIA REGULATIONS ALERT

New Dental Waterline Requirements
for Georgia in 2025

The Georgia Board of Dentistry recently announced new waterline regulations. These changes took effect January 1, 2025, and while they apply specifically to Georgia offices, it’s critical for all of us to be well informed.

What You Need to Know

The new Rule 150-8-.05 focuses on dental unit waterline safety and addresses significant risks, including outbreaks of Mycobacterium abscessus in Georgia.

Key Requirements:

Offices must perform quarterly waterline testing.

Offices are required to maintain documentation of test results for at least 5 years.

If test results fail, immediate remediation is mandatory.

These regulations emphasize patient safety and infection control—an increasingly important focus for state boards.
